Questions and answers

Answers to the key questions about CNC machining, cutting, bending and 3D printing to order: prices and quotes, files and tolerances, lead times, payment, claims, confidentiality and partner shops.

How HexoParts works

What is HexoParts?

A marketplace for CNC machining, sheet metal and 3D printing jobs. Companies order parts with a CAD file, and vetted shops in Poland make them. HexoParts is your contracting party and is responsible for price, lead time, quality, invoice and claims.

Who is my contracting party and who invoices me?

HexoParts. You buy the parts from us, pay us and get our invoice. The shop works for HexoParts and is paid by us, so you have one company for billing and claims.

Who makes the parts?

Vetted manufacturing shops in Poland with mills, lathes, lasers, waterjets, press brakes and 3D printers. Every shop is verified: company registers, a video call of the shop floor, a test job or ISO 9001, and liability insurance.

Do the buyer and the shop know each other?

No. The job reaches the shop under a HexoParts number without your company name, and you do not get the shop's details. Messages go through HexoParts and are checked for contact details automatically.

How is HexoParts different from a single machine shop?

You do not hunt for suppliers or compare quotes yourself. Simple parts get an instant price, complex ones are quoted by several shops in a closed tender, and we check quality before shipping. The shop is paid only after you accept the parts.

Quotes and prices

How much does a CNC machined part cost?

It depends on material, size, setups, tolerances, finish and quantity, so we do not publish a price list. You see the price of your part free of charge after uploading the STEP file.

Why is one piece expensive and several cheaper?

For a single piece most of the cost is preparation: the CNC program, machine setup and fixturing. That cost is spread over the batch, so the unit price drops noticeably with a few pieces.

When do I get an instant price and when do shops quote?

Instant: milled and turned parts in listed materials, with common finishes and up to 200 pieces. Laser and waterjet cutting, bending, 3D printing, complex geometry, larger runs and special materials are quoted by 3-5 shops in a tender: price within 24-48 hours.

How much does a quote cost?

Nothing. Instant prices and tenders are free and do not oblige you to order.

How long is a price valid?

A price in the portal is valid for 7 days, a tender price no longer than the shop's offer. After that you refresh it on the request page.

Which currency do I pay in?

Companies outside Poland see prices, pay and get invoices in EUR, converted at the NBP average rate from the quote date and fixed until the price expires.

Files, drawings and tolerances

Which files do you accept?

STEP (.step, .stp) for milling, turning and bending, a DXF contour at 1:1 for laser and waterjet cutting, and STL or STEP for 3D printing. Production drawing as PDF. One part per file, up to 50 MB.

Do I need a PDF drawing?

Not always. Without a drawing we machine to the model with general tolerances ISO 2768-m. You need a drawing for threads and fits not marked on the model and for tolerances tighter than general. The drawing prevails for toleranced dimensions.

What tolerances can you hold?

Untoleranced dimensions to ISO 2768-m, and you can change the class to f, c or v. On the 3D model you can click any face and give it its own class. Put tighter tolerances and fits such as H7 on the drawing.

Are my files safe?

Files are encrypted, every download is logged, and the shop gets the file under our number without the author in the STEP header. Shops that do not win a tender lose access and delete copies within 7 days.

Processes and materials

Which services do you offer?

CNC milling (3- and 5-axis), CNC turning, laser cutting, waterjet cutting, sheet metal bending and 3D printing (FDM, SLS, MJF, SLA), plus finishes such as anodising, bead blasting, zinc plating, black oxide and powder coating.

Which materials are available?

Aluminium (e.g. 6082, 7075, 5083), structural and alloy steels (S235, C45, 42CrMo4), stainless steels (1.4301, 1.4404), brass, titanium and plastics (POM-C, PA6, PEEK). For 3D printing: PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, TPU, PA12 and resins.

Do you offer 3D printing to order?

Yes. 3D printing in FDM, SLS, MJF and SLA is always quoted by shops in a tender. Upload an STL or STEP model and get the price within 24-48 hours.

Can I get a material certificate?

Yes, a 3.1 certificate to EN 10204 can be ordered with the request at extra cost.

Ordering, payment and delivery

Do I need an account?

No. A file and an email address are enough for a quote. The account is created when you confirm the address with the link or code from the email.

How can I pay?

Before production, but only after a manufacturing partner has confirmed it: by card, Przelewy24 or bank transfer against a pro forma invoice. We email the payment link within 3 business days of the order at the latest, and you then have 3 business days to pay. Production starts once the payment is booked. Payment terms are granted individually.

How long does production take?

You see the shipping date with the price, counted in business days from payment. Simple parts usually ship in 7-10 business days, express is faster at extra cost.

Do you deliver outside Poland?

Yes, to businesses and private persons across the EU. You order online and pay in EUR; businesses with a valid EU VAT number get an invoice without Polish VAT (intra-Community supply).

What if my order is late?

For a delay on our side you get a discount: 5% for 1-2 business days and 10% for 3-5 business days. From the 3rd business day you can also cancel at no cost.

Quality, claims and confidentiality

How do you check quality?

Before shipping the shop measures critical dimensions and takes photos, and we approve the inspection report. For batches of 20 pieces or more the first article is checked first. You download the report in the portal.

What if a part does not match the drawing?

Report it in the portal within 5 business days of delivery with photos and measurements. We decide within 2 business days and remake the parts, send missing pieces or refund the price.

Do you sign NDAs?

Confidentiality is part of the terms you accept before uploading, and shops are bound by confidentiality with a contractual penalty. If your company needs its own NDA, write to us through the contact form.

What do you not make?

Weapons and ammunition and their essential parts, dual-use items requiring authorisation, sanctioned goods and copies of protected parts without the right holder's consent.

For manufacturing shops

How do I become a partner shop?

Register your shop in the portal, describe machines and materials and choose verification: a test job or ISO 9001. Then a video call, liability insurance of at least PLN 200,000 and a framework agreement.

What does access cost?

Nothing. No access fees and no commissions. We earn on the difference between the customer price and the shop's remuneration.

When is the shop paid?

7 days after the customer accepts the parts, regardless of when the customer paid. Transfers go out on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Step-by-step procedures, such as claims, refunds or partner verification, are in the help centre.

Still have a question? Write to us: we reply on business days, usually the same day.

Have a part to make? Place an order.

Placing an order costs nothing, you pay only for ordered parts. Businesses and private persons across the EU order online, in EUR.
