Stainless steel CNC machining: milling and turning

Stainless parts for food processing, machinery and medical equipment. You place the order with a STEP file, and a shop equipped for stainless steel makes it. A simple part in 1.4301 has a fixed price straight away.

Material certificate
3.1 to EN 10204 on request, attached to the inspection report

Stainless steel milling

Flanges, plates, bodies and machine parts milled from 1.4301 and 1.4404. The order goes only to shops that machine stainless steel and have the tools for it.

Stainless steel turning

Shafts, bushings, pins and fasteners turned on CNC lathes. The system recognises a rotational part in the STEP file and prices turning instead of milling.

What drives the price of stainless machining

Stainless steel machines more slowly than aluminium and structural steel, and tools wear faster, so the same part costs more. You save most on tolerances: mark critical dimensions on the drawing and leave the rest at ISO 2768-m.

Questions

Stainless steel CNC machining: frequently asked questions

304 or 316L?

1.4301 (304) is enough for most uses. Choose 1.4404 (316L) for contact with chlorides and cleaning agents. 316L is quoted by shops in a tender.

Will I get a material certificate?

Yes. Tick the certificate in the order, and the shop attaches it to the inspection report.

Stainless steel CNC machining services

Stainless steel 1.4301 (304) and 1.4404 (316L) is tough and work-hardens with the wrong cutting data. That is why stainless orders only go to shops that machine it every day. Typical parts are shafts, bushings and flanges for food, pharma and chemical equipment, and brackets for outdoor use.

Small batches and single parts

Small batches of 5 to 200 pieces are our most common stainless order, single parts are possible too. You upload the STEP file and drawing and order online, from anywhere in the EU.

Material certificate and inspection

On request we supply a 3.1 material certificate. Every batch is measured before shipping and comes with an inspection report. Mild steel parts are covered on steel CNC machining.

Have a part to make? Place an order.
