01Typical orders

What customers order most

Examples, not a closed list. The order goes to shops whose machines fit the size and material of your part.

01

Mounting plates and panels

Flat parts with bolt holes, cut-outs and markings.

02

Blanks for bending

Brackets, angles and enclosures that then go to the press brake.

03

Covers and guards

Parts in galvanised or stainless sheet, often perforated.

04

Washers and shaped parts

Small parts in larger quantities, cut from one sheet.

02What sets the price

What we look at in your part

Scroll to see what decides price and manufacturing. These are the same things the shop checks before accepting the order.

  1. 01 · 1.24 m of cut

    Contour length

The price depends on the path of the laser head: the outline and all cut-outs. Simple contours in common sheet get an instant price.

  2. 02 · 7 pierces

    Pierces

Every hole and internal cut-out is a separate pierce. Dozens of small holes can cost more than the outline itself.

  3. 03 · Ø2 < t

    Small holes

A hole smaller than the sheet thickness comes out rough. Better drill it or enlarge it to at least the sheet thickness.

  4. 04 · t = 3 mm

    Sheet thickness

A laser cuts thicker material more slowly, so the same contour in 10 mm costs several times more than in 2 mm. Choose the thinnest sheet that meets the requirements.

1.24 m of cut

What drives the price

The price depends on cutting length, the number of pierces (each hole is one pierce), thickness and material. Simple contours in listed sheets have a fixed price straight away; thicker sheets and unusual shapes are quoted in a tender within 24-48 h.

Learn more about laser cutting

Laser cutting of sheet metal to size

You order laser cutting with a DXF contour: choose material, thickness and quantity. The order goes to a vetted shop whose laser suits the sheet thickness and format. Contract, invoice and claims are handled by HexoParts, so you do not negotiate with individual shops.

Steel, stainless steel and aluminium

Most orders are mild steel, galvanised sheet, stainless steel and aluminium. A laser cuts a narrow kerf and an accurate contour, which suits plates, flanges, washers, covers and enclosure parts. For thick plates or heat-sensitive materials, waterjet cutting is often the better choice.

Cutting and bending in one order

If the part needs bending after cutting, order bending in the same order. The shop cuts the flat pattern, bends it on a press brake and measures the critical dimensions before shipping. There is no minimum quantity; materials and thicknesses are listed under materials.

Sheet metal laser cutting: instant quote from DXF

Sheet metal laser cutting starts with a DXF contour. A laser cutting instant quote is available for simple parts in common sheet: S235 up to 15 mm, stainless steel up to 10 mm and aluminium up to 6 mm. Parts above these limits get a laser cutting quote from vetted partners in a closed tender, free of charge.
